... Bust Jakob Auer

... Parish church of the Saints Philip and Jacob
Place: Natz
The parish church of the Saints Philip and Jacob in late-Gothic style has been consecrated 1208 by the prince-bishop Konrad in honour of the Saints Philip and Walpurga. From the names of the present patrons of the church we can conclude that there was a rebuilding and once again a consecration. The steeple is made of many rectangular stone blocks. On the neo-Gothic high altar there are wooden sculptures dated 1470, which are attributable to a wood carver of the tradition of the South Tyrolean artist Michael Pacher. details

... Parish church of Saint Margaret
Place: Schabs
In Schabs we find the late-Gothic parish church of Saint Margaret, which was consecrated in 1281, but the construction was finished only in 1454. Reconstruction into the baroque style of the interior of the church was undertaken at the end of the 18th century. Striking is the portal, which is quadrilateral and framed with stones. On its upper part there are three cartouches of marble. The side chapel is known for the interesting painting it contains. Admirable is also the unusually high and slender steeple (72 m). details

The pilgrimage chapel “Urlaubsstöckl”
Place: Schabs
To the municipality of Schabs belongs also the so-called “Urlaubsstöckl”, which is situated on the southern slope of Mount Spinges. This simple pilgrimage chapel was built by the curate Georg Stocker in 1641. The “Urlaubsstöckl” (the German expression Urlaub means ‘holidays’) was certainly not built by holidaymakers; the name is related to a painting in the interior of the chapel, which represents the parting of Christ from Mother Mary. Starting in Schabs, the chapel can be reached on an easy path with a breathtaking view.Sightseeing in Raas details

... The church of Saint Aegidius
Place: Raas
The church of Saint Aegidius in Raas is a late-Gothic building, which was finished under the direction of Thomas Maurer in 1532. Actually there was an older church there, which was consecrated in 1173. The interior furnishings are neo-Gothic and date back to 1880.On the high altar you can admire a statue of Saint Aegidius, the patron saint of the church and the protector of the wine-growing. Therefore every year on the 1st September early grapes are hanged on its hand. Close to the church of Saint Aegidius there is the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre. The chapel was built in honour of the Holy Sepulchre of Christ and contains wood carved statues of Christ’s Passion, a nice crucifix and a mobile altar. In the steeple there are two tiny bells. They are rung above all when a storm is threatening. details

The hunter monument
Place: Raas
The hunter monument was built in the year 1968 from the "Jägerschaft Natz-Schabs" on the Messnerbühel. It was carved from an old chestnut log. The inscription says: It is the hunter's honourshild, so that he protects and fosters the wild game. The column shows a hunger with a crossbow and a dog, as well as a deer with the cross in its antler. details
